The kids had a week of of school for fall break so we took three of those nights and spent them at the YMCA in Winter Park. It was such a nice vacation. I was still recovering from a painful jaw muscle spasm and was hoping I could enjoy it. It was definitely enjoyable. The kids loved the craft room and spent a lot of time there. We came home with mosiacs, ceramics, wooden boxes, a wood airplane and a cute cupcake plate.
This was at an old homestead that is on the YMCA property. We had a sweet lady named Sam that took us on our own private tour of the homestead. She made our trip even more memorable. The first stop, the outhouse. Dallin was posing on the "pot" and Alyssa photo-bombed it perfectly.
This is inside the barn where they would put a goat up to milk it.
This was outside of the house. It was so neat to see the tiny house and the tools and cooking utensils they used. It reminded me a lot of Nauvoo.
Then the really fun part. We got to dress up. The kids even got into character and loved acting as if they lived on that homestead - Sam was pretty awesome to let us do all of that.
Of course we had to get a family picture in our outfits. We told the kids to make a serious face, because that would be more realistic. Alyssa's serious face cracked me up.
The handsome Cramer men out in the field.
The family loading up the wagon and ready to head out.
Jackie roped a pretty good guy! Love the face, she is a happy girl to have such a great Daddy!
The happy and the serious Father/Daughter.
They would have "played" for hours if we let them. They were so fun to watch, I could have stayed and watched them for hours.
At last the costumes had to come off, we had to let Sam get back to her work. What a fun time we had.
Our next stop - the roller skating rink. The girls rode these bikes around while we skated. Guess who was on duty at the rink- Sam. She not only sat at her desk and got us our shoes, but she turned on some music games and came out onto the rink to do games with us. It was really fun because we were the only ones there (again) and could just be silly and fun together without worrying about others around us.
This was one of my favorties about this trip. We did smores every night in our cabin. It was so relaxing and peaceful to be away for a couple of days and just spend time together.
Sam told us there were some Geo-chaches on the property. Our first one was a dude, but we persevered and found three more. The kids loved looking for "treasure". We think we might have found a new family activity.
We also had the mini-golf to ourselves . Jeff and Jackie had a match while the girls and Dallin played around. Jeff even got a hole-in-one. It was a cute mini-golf course.
Our horse trail ride was a highlight of the trip. The kids are now wanting to get their own horses. We were told each of our horses names and the kids each had their own horse (except Alyssa who was with Jeff) . They talked to them all along the trail.

Our third geo-cache was a surprise. We were hiking up to a waterfall and at the top they found this geo-cache. They were so excited. It was a bit of a hike and we had our normal complaining. But once we got to the waterfall it all ended. They walk back was much better as well.
The happy couple!
Our destination - the waterfall. It was excited to the kids because they had to balance across rocks to get to the waterfall - very exhilarating!
One evening I stayed home with Alyssa while Jeff took the other kids swimming. While they were gone we did this puzzle that was in the closet of our cabin. Alyssa did so good. It took us about an hour and she stuck with it and got so excited when she found pieces. It is moments like these, when I take the time to just be with my kids, that I really enjoy them.
This was actually taken the first day we got their. I laugh everytime I see this picture, eveyone smiling and looking - then you see Alyssa. What! Oh goodness girl!
Then a silly one of course, and Alyssa looks cute! And one more picture of the craft room. They all three made a mosiac which is very time consuming and difficult. They worked hard and created works of art.
