School is starting!

Alyssa is being homeschooled this year - 4th grade.  She is so excited to be home and is looking forward to all the things she will be able to do and learn.  She is doing Saxon Math 5/4 and Jenny Phillips "The Good & Beautiful" level 4 for Language Arts, some typing, lots of art & lego play, reading alone and with Mom, open gym gymnastics, writing & handwriting work, and some geography memorization.  She also gets to go to Mountain Vista Homeschool Academy once a week for all day and is doing fencing there as well.  This picture is of her first day at Mountain Vista.  She gets to eat breakfast and lunch there, which is pretty awesome.  She also is a helper for when I teach preschool and is really good at that, she is so good with Peter & Ephraim and they love having her home all day. 

Dallin is a freshman at Widefield High School.  He usually gets a ride to a from school, but sometimes he will ride his skateboard.  It is a big high school and he has done awesome navigating around an figuring out his locker, which is in the senior locker hall.  He starts early, 7:15.  But he is up really early each day for early morning seminary which starts at 5:40am.  This is is first time back in a regular school after homeschooling for the past 3 years, so a big adjustment.  He is doing great, going even when it is super hard and not everyday is great.  Staying on top of his classes and homework and making new friends.

 Brea is in Junior High at Vanguard (7th grade).  She likes having different classes and teachers and has adjusted well to that new schedule and having a locker.  We leave this house at 7:00 and drop Dallin off first and then Brea, she likes to be there early so she has plenty of time to go to her locker and get to her first period class.  She has a good amount of homework each night but is very responsible about getting it done. 

Jackie is now a Sophomore at Vanguard.  She has released time seminary 3x a week for an hour and a half each time.  She is blessed to have her Dad as a seminary teacher along with Sister Johnson.  She also got an award for having straight A's all year as a Freshman, which is pretty remarkable.  She is the manager for the cross-country team right now, wishing she could run but can't because of a hurt knee, so she is helping instead.
