Aunt Elly was able to come visit us for a few days before Christmas. You can see by the excited faces of Alyssa and Jackie that we were all thrilled to have her visit.
The last night, before driving to Idaho, we celebrated our own Christmas Eve. We have a few traditions that we wanted to do. Such as this yearly trumpet playing by Dad. The kids were able to sing along this year as he played
Christmas tunes. They each took there turn blowing as well. They were so excited when a sound would come out, even though it sounded pretty awful. And no Alyssa is not in the high chair getting her ears blown off...the highchair was used as a music stand. We sang a lot this year, because the kids enjoyed it so much. We went caroling with some good friends, and after that every time we were in the car we would sing Christmas Carols. Dallins favorite was Away in a Manger and Jackie enjoyed Silent Night and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. The first time we sang Rudolph, Jackie did the accent "like a lightbulb" right at the beginning . Dallin and Brea though that was pretty fun so every pause they would say "like a lightbulb". They didn't realize there was other things they could say (that would make more sense) like "like pinocchio" or "like monopoly" ect. We were all laughing so hard by the end of the song. The holidays are so fun with kids.
We also opened our presents from each other, that were under the tree.
Dallin got "Don't eat Pete", along with a bag of his own M&Ms. He had felt the present many times over the past couple weeks and was sure he was getting a bag of M&Ms. He was excited when he realized he was right. Of course, we had to play right then. It is a fun game that I played growing up and have introduced to the kids. Normally we have to make our own board, but not any more.

Digging into the goods. Our tradition comes from
Jeffs family, we have appetizers of all sorts on Christmas Eve. I am always amazed at how feeling appetizers can be, but they sure are yummy. It was fun to share our traditions with Elly this year.
We went bowling all together, and it was the first time ever for
Dallin and
Brea. They loved it. Here is
Dallin "throwing" his ball. Every time he went there was loud thud as the ball hit the ground and rolled down. He was hilarious to watch.
Brea was also very fun to watch. She insisted on doing it herself. You can imagine the power of a three year old rolling a ball all the way down the lane...it took quite a while for her ball to hit the pins. There was more than one instance when it got stuck, as it came to a complete stand still before making it to the pins. She would watch the ball all the way, usually in a position like the one above. Then when it would hit a pin she would turn around and jump up. So funny.

Elly and I got invited to a tea party. This was the serving table, decked out with all sorts of yummy food. There was another table full of beautiful teapots and teacups with saucers. We enjoyed all kinds of tea (herbal off course). It was fun to dress up and have a fancy afternoon with other ladies.
