Easter 2011

Easter turned out to be a bit of a chilly weekend. But that didn't stop us. We went to the Nature Center on Saturday for an Easter Egg Hunt. They had a show about bunnies inside, before the hunt. They told all kinds of interesting facts about them and had some fun jokes about bunnies as well. Then they gave each child a card with a picture of an animal on it. They had pictures of animals on all the eggs. The children were only allowed to find the eggs that matched the animal they had. Instead of candy in the eggs, they had interesting info inside that the children could read and learn. It was great because it was a slow-paced egg hunt, there was no rush to find all the eggs. It was fair, fun, and educational, plus the benefit of being outdoors (even if it was snowing!). Then at the end...if they turned in their eggs they got some candy in their baskets. It was a great way to do an egg hunt. Their baskets are from about three years ago. They made them at a library story hour time. They are made out of milk cartons and even though we have some other really cute baskets the kids always want to use these.

We also did the traditional decorating of the eggs. The kids get more creative every year. We had some very colorful eggs. I should have boiled a lot more because they went through them pretty fast. Holidays are such a memorable time. We are grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and his exemplary life and unselfish sacrifice for all of us.
