After traveling to Alabama, Idaho was going to be a piece of cake! The kids were amazingly good travelers. The day went by fast and we were only an hour away from Grandma & Grandpas. In fact we could see the 'Welcome to Idaho' sign. We were all excited to get there, and we were thinking we had done pretty good on time. Then.....we heard a horrible noise and it felt like our tire went flat! So we pulled off the road and Jeff took a look.
Lucky for us, there was a little trail right were we had pulled off. So I took the kids on a hike and left Jeff to deal with the van. It was a nice hike, and I was given some beautiful flowers. All was going well. We decided to turn back and check on the van.
Well, that wasn't going quite as well. We weren't sure what was wrong, but it wouldn't drive without making a horrible sound like metal against metal. So, we got to hang out in front of the 'Welcome to Idaho' sign for two hours.
Some hiking, some sitting, some worrying, lots of phone calls (so glad we have cell phones that work), two bee stings on two different girls, a couple potty breaks in the bushes, some more sitting, and then sliding down a hill.
He discovered this hill right before we left, but sure enjoyed it. I don't think the kids minded too bad, having to wait two hours. Well, except for the bee stings, they could have done without those. We were glad we were so close to my parents house. Ryndon was able to come rescue us, and our van was towed. We were able to enjoy the wedding and reception even without a car. Amazingly, after going to the temple, instead of trying to fix the car, we were able to get the part we needed and have it repaired just in time.
